Brown-headed cowbirds and bison have a long-standing relationship, coexisting in harmony. You can often see bison grazing in grasslands with a cowbird perched on their back. The relationship is mutually beneficial—a cowbird eats the insects stirred up by the bison as he walks, and in return, the bison may get a heads-up on predators and certainly some relief from ticks and pests. They work together, side by side.
Maybe you’re the bison and I’m the cowbird—or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way, we’re working together, walking the same path.
